Fall Family Traditions
This past weekend marked the official beginning of Fall--my very favorite time of year. Time for snuggly sweaters, cozy warm jackets, and layers galore! Fall dressing is so much fun, and Bundle has so many gorgeous options for boys and girls this season!
The Fall also means our family is outside more--unlike the hot temps of summer, the cool weather is perfect for taking a walk and playing out in the fresh air.
We have a few traditions every Fall that I'm really, really looking forward to. Every year since my kids were little, we've gone apple picking--sometimes with friends, sometimes just us--but we always go! When we get home, we make applesauce and apple pie and apple crisp and baked apples. Last year we even canned some applesauce that we used for gifts! I am hungry just thinking about it.
We also have a Halloween parade in our neighborhood on the weekend before Halloween. All the neighborhood kids get dressed up and a firetruck from the local station actually comes and leads the costumed kids through the neighborhood as people stand and wave from their front steps and sidewalks. The parade ends at a cul-de-sac where the kids have treats and play games. It's so much fun and so cute and we look forward to it every year.
Last year, we started a new tradition that I am hoping to keep alive this year. We made a "thankful chain" in November. We wrote down all the things we were thankful for that day/week/month/year on strips of paper and then made a paper link chain that we used as a decoration on Thanksgiving. It was a really great way to get everyone thinking and I am determined to make it an annual tradition.
